This How To Video introduces the Group By clause in MySQL. We looks at the number of post types and different status values in a WordPress test database (in order to show an example utilizing a real database structure). The takeaway rule is that each non calculated column on the SELECT clause (result table columns) must be on the Group By clause. I commonly use the Group By technique to get a feel for the database (like how many posts of each post type exist) or checking for duplicate values. This test database is running locally on a XAMPP server. Questions or comments please let me know – Dave at DaveCoast.com. Thanks for Watching.
